Pantry demo — say what?

All Posts, Kitchen

Sawdust Girl -- kitchen progress

Remember my pantry?  Yeah, the new one in the kitchen.

Well…it never got finished because I knew right away that I’d have to change something.  I purposefully left a 48″ wide walkway next to the window in the kitchen because I wanted to add a window seat.  But I don’t want a window seat just sitting under the window.  I want a window seat flanked by cabinets…which would create an issue of having full access to the pantry.

Things are a little fuzzy during the months of December, January and maybe even into February.  I can’t blame it on meds as I wasn’t taking anything after my back surgery but some muscle relaxers.  They were the size of horse pills though so maybe they effected me more than I knew.

Needless to say, I knew I’d have to do a little demo and reshape my pantry.  Something about yesterday felt like the right time to dive in.  I had my barn door glue setting and paint drying on my new “Drop Station” bench and I needed something else to do and I always say, “There’s no time like the present”!

Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever said that before…but it works for me in this situation so I’m just rolling with it.  I tore out part of the framing yesterday…

What fun!  Oh yeah– and I finished trimming out that window!  Did you notice?

(Compare the last 2 pictures.)

Time to make it an L shaped pantry – then add my window seat – in between waiting for more glue to set and paint to dry.

My life is all excitement!

Well at least you realized the issue BEFORE you finished it up! Win!

I would love to know how you built the shelves. I have a niche in my kitchen that I want to add shelving.
