I’m loving the finished plank wall in my master closet! I have another project planned where I need the window trim to be flush with the wall which is why I planked it in the first place. It was a project of necessity but I’m loving it as is.
What? You didn’t know I got distracted from my two current projects, the laundry room and office? If you follow my on facebook you had a heads up (because I share gripping play by play updates as projects happen ha!).
Last Thursday I had a day with no appointments and a wall that had been bugging me so I jumped into yet another project. Yeah, that ONE project at a time rule is not only out the window but it’s a mile back down the road. Anyway, you know the wall I’m referring to? This one in my master closet.
I had hung drapes to hide the off-center window. (The rug was never going to stay — we were just seeing if we liked that size.) However, I decided that’s not what I wanted.
I decided I want something completely different. I am still slightly bugged by the off-center window — but not nearly as much.
The funny thing is that this wall isn’t the final goal, it’s just a means of getting there…but I’m keeping the plan to myself for now. It’ll probably take another year to finish the entire plan so for now I’ll just enjoy the clean lines of the plank wall.
Yep, this room is far from finished but it’s coming along…

Definitely prefer the plank wall over the curtains! Very pretty.

I love the planked wall! If the offset window bugs you have you ever thought of putting a large mirror by it? It would reflect lots of light & you can easily see if you like the outfit you picked out.

Heehee I like it just like this for now. I like my long term plan too but you’ll have to wait to see what that is. 🙂

I am laughing…”far from finished”…and my first thought when I saw the heading was “WHHHAAA??” I do prefer what you have now–the casual/cottage/planked wall look with the stool and basket–definately my style. The other look was fine but very “fancy”. Nice surprise!

What type of planking did you use and where did you get it from?

I agree with the other commenters…the planked wall looks so much better than the drapes. Even though you have told us you have an overall/eventually plan for the closet, I was thinking if you hung two, maybe three square pieces of artwork vertically, it would help balance out the wall and make it more fun to live with until you can complete your ideas. Just a thought. Look who’s telling who what to do !!!

Hehe, I like them both, but they are very different! personally, the drapes are more my style
Sandra says
I like them both too. But I needed to do this so I can do that other thing…that I am going to do. 🙂

Awesome! And if your master closet is far from finished then mine is, well, I don’t even know what that makes mine! 🙂

Sandra, I’m seeing these planked walls everywhere. How permanent is it? If I decided in 3-5 years that I was over it, how difficult is it to remove?
Sandra says
You’d have to take the off opposite of how you put them up. Then have a bunch of nail holes to fill. Nothing big.

CSandy where did you get the long brushed silver pull bars for your drawers. I’ve been trying to price them out, but the price point is all over the place.
Sandra says
I found a great deal on Amazon at that time but DLawlessHardware.com has great prices on them.

Closet looks great. How deep are the sides? We are redoing our closet with built ins and I THINK I want it as deep as a hanger is with clothes on it. Right now I am thinking ~22″ deep for the side, but yours looks a little deeper than that and it looks good.

I love the wall! What product did you use for the planks? I have been looking at several different products to plank my hallway and I can not decide which would be easiest. Thanks!

I would like your plans on how to build a master closet

I was wondering the dimensions of your closet? Its hard to tell size from pictures. Thanks!!!
