Last week while working on my Bookcase and waiting for wood putty to dry, I installed a light in my dining room. It happens to be a light I purchased about two years ago with the intention of installing it in my Library, a room which proved to be way too small to have any kind of seating arrangement that would allow alight dangling down in the center. So it’s been in my “Crap room“ for two years. Then it took two days to actually get the light installed because the ceiling bracket that came with the light didn’t quite fit the hole in my ceiling. Wes came home from Home Depot with this adjustable one which came in a package with no instructions and three separate pieces.
Now, when you see it put together it looks like a no-brainer, but three loose parts staring up at me had wide eyed and blank brained like a deer staring at headlights! I happened upon the very part online in a “put together” picture and figured it out instantly.
(Funny how my brain works!)
So I got it installed and then it took another three days to find lightbulbs so we continued to eat our dinners at the kitchen bar or on the couch for a few extra days. ‘Cause we like to see the fork as it approaches our faces!
There are plenty of bulbs out there but I’m partial to “Daylight” bulbs and it appears that ANY AND ALL companies that manufacture these little things just love to make them in “warm” light. I looked and looked (for about 5 minutes because that’s about all the time I have to waste on little details like that) and finally just bought what was available. Our dining room is SUPER YELLOW when the light is on but at least there is light. I have seen cool white bulbs in this size/style but they were like $3000 each so I didn’t order them. I keep thinking they’ll come down…guess I need to stop buying light that require these dumb little bulbs!
I really do not like the yellow light so I like the room best in the daylight. It’s coming together though! Someday soon I’ll get the crown and base up and then put something on the walls. I wanted a buffet thingy against one wall but the room is JUST SO SMALL!
This house is so weird! Some rooms are oddly huge and then others are ridiculously small…rolling with it! 🙂
