If you know me, you know I love teaching! Sharing tips and tutorials on the blog is cool but when I get the opportunity to do it in person is SUPER DUPER fun! Learning how to “Do It Yourself” is such a journey of empowerment and I LOVE being able to share in that journey with those whom I mentor and teach in whatever classroom, Skype session, workshop or assembly I have the good fortune of being invited into…and sometimes even without an invitation, like in the lumber, tool or hardware aisle. Don’t judge.
So being asked to help lead a DIY Workshop for Home Depot was like, “Uh, what? You talking to me? Of course I want to go hang out with a bunch of tool toting, sawdust loving… Yes, I’d love to!”
If you are going to be in that area on Saturday, November 8th (or want to make a road trip), I would love to see you there, hang out, teach, talk, laugh and for sure dance! You know there will be dancing if I have anything to say about it!
Where and when?
The Home Depot UNIVERSITY STORE #3603
8135 UNIVERSITY CTY BLVD.
CHARLOTTE, NC 28213
Saturday, November 8th
10:00 – 11:30 am.
Be there or be square yo!
If you are unfamiliar with The Home Depot’s DIY workshops, they are FREE workshops for people of all ages and experience levels, put on in Home Depot locations across the country to provide hands on learning experiences with tools and materials to help people learn a new skill and “DIY”. Workshops cover topics ranging from how to tile surfaces to gardening and deck staining, including unique, functional projects for both inside and outside your home.
The Nov 8th DIY workshop will be dedicated to making holiday yard decor, specifically — these Lighted Noel Trees!
This is a hands on experience workshop.
You will get to work with the different tools and learn how operate them. Home Depot associates and I will be right there with you to answer any questions you may have and to gently guide you in terms of safety and technique — oh who am I kidding, I will make sure you have those safety glasses on and you aren’t crossing the path of the cut with you body parts!
Remember, my full name is “Safety Marshall Sandra”!
If you can’t come to Charlotte, don’t be too down, workshops will be held all over the country! Some stores will have a DIY Blogging guest leader (like me) but even if you don’t live near any of these stores, your closest store will might be hosting a DIY workshop.
Just hop online to register to see where your nearest DIY workshop will be held.

Of course, all the workshops are going to be awesome (but of course I think Charlotte, NC will top the cake!)
If you think you’re going to go, hop online and Register so we can plan accordingly…you know, with refreshments and goodie bags and, giveaways and unicorns… Ok, there will be no unicorns but the other stuff FOR SURE!
If you can’t make it to a workshop, you can follow along on social media channel. I will be sharing pics and updates as often as my giant fingers can type on my little teeny phone keyboard –and I’ll be sharing a tutorial on my blog sometime the following week(ish) with my own special version of the lighted tree decoration!
You can also follow Home Depot’s social media channels: Facebook, twitter and Pinterest for updates on all the workshops around the country and who knows what other excitement! And of course be up-to-date with Home Depots official blog: The Apron!

You crack me up! Have a great, awesome, super-duper time!!! Hope you have a massive turnout that shows you all the love we have for you. 🙂 I am a “buttinski” in the fabric store, sometimes Pottery Barn, and maybe a few other places. I just can’t help myself. I like to think my opinion matters and/or that I have a very important piece of information/advice to contribute. It has always (appeared) to be well received. 😉
