Love your blog-you inspired me to re-do my closet with about 800 lbs of wood:) It looks great but I must admit I did 90% of it barefoot, the baseboards (that I removed from your tutorial) propped against the wall with HUGE nails sticking out of them-just waiting for me or one of my kids to get careless and poke out an eye, no ear protection or mask. This post did at least make me look for my mask (which I could not find) while using my new sander. I am going to take your advise (and since I NEVER win anything I'm sure I will be doing this on my own dollar and not Amazon's) and buy safety gear before my next project with power tools:)
