Reality Check

Hey there!  I thought it might be interesting for you to see what my house looks like RIGHT NOW, in the middle of two big projects.

We’ve been living like this for a while now.  I built my countertop and even cut out the sink hole and then left the whole laundry room project to collect dust…

…while I get some kind of office built.  I got my walls nice and smooth.

I got as far as purchasing a new fan and can lights this weekend but they’re still sitting in the boxes.

Because LIFE happens.  Things come up with work, people think they need to have some fun on the weekends, Dr appointments happen, I have to pick people up from school — twice, because they forget they have band practice…

Life is why DIY projects always takes three times longer than expected.  And that’s a good thing.  Because LIFE is the important stuff.

  1. I have noticed over the years (dah!) that to get things beautiful/fix them up you have to make and live with a mess for awhile. However, I could not live like that all the time! But this is your love, your job…and yes LIFE happens. I saw your comment on food. I hate cooking–if I didn’t have to there would be more time for sewing! But I have kids and a husband (who is very tolerant of my repetitive, pathetic meals) so I must.

  2. Funny comments today. My first thought after looking at the photo were similar to Jacque’s…at least you have nice wide hallways, and good lighting in those hallways. I’m sure the most important stuff in your home is getting attended to, just fine.

    1. I’m trying to make sure the important stuff isn’t overlooked. I really can’t stand the mess though- trying my hardest to do both! 🙂

  3. I am so glad that I am not the only one lives like that while I am improving our lives. 🙂 Tho, I like Nancy! I have those days too! It is called ‘Life with 3 teenage boys and a husband.’ Sometimes I feel like a salmon in a stream of clutter with them!

    1. That is such a good analogy of what it feels like every time I cook or clean up. If we just didn’t need food in our lives things would be so much easier. LOL

I REALLY needed this post today. Thanks for sharing your “keepin’ it real” post today ;-). P.s. Miss you!

  5. Heck, my house looks that way even when there aren’t any projects and life isn’t getting in the way!

    1. LOL Well, we all have our threshold. I think mine is ever changing…
