I’m making progress in the Powder Room. Just when I started to feel comfortable with the Open Bathroom Policy!
First I tore out the closet. Then I tore out the tub.
Then I took out the extra door.
Framed that in and tore all the drywall off another wall.
It absolutely ALWAYS gets worse before it gets better!
Then I tore out that wall and reframed it for a pocket door.
And framed in the wall to close off the Powder Room. (The future “Coat Closet” is a surprise!)
That’s what I’ve been up to this week.
How did this “Living Room Coat Closet Tearout” turn into such a big project?
Muhahahahaha! 😉
Kimberly says
I don’t think that it would have been such a big job…if your house made any sense. It will eventually, after you tear it all out and rebuild it one room at a time. lol I thought you were looking for something with a little less work to be done. I guess you just can’t help yourself. I wish I had 1/2 of your awesomeness!
Sandra says
We were looking for something with less demo required. LOL And to be honest, I didn’t plan any of this demo initially. I saw a house that had some potential. It didn’t make sense and I had no real plan or vision going into it. I just hoped I’d come up with something eventually.
JulieW says
All this because of a Christmas tree. LOL
Sandra says
Mostly…but not just for the tree. That closet was taking up way too much space in my small living room. (But having a place for the Christmas tree is an added bonus! LOL
Connie in Hartwood says
It’s not getting worse … it’s DEFINITELY better … even in the rough framing stage!
Sandra says
I think so too. I just feel bad for Wes because I’m sure it feels worse to him. I keep telling him to “Be patient. I’m creating awesome here!” LOL
Sherry says
It will be great once it is done! Have a great day!
Jaime says
And now you’re missing the sink and toilet too! It’ll be so worth it in the end.
Maureen says
Sandra,
Are those standard 2x4s used in your framing? And it’s a good thing that Wes wasn’t around when you started. And it’s a good thing that he trusts you with all this. But it is SO much better already!!! You can see the cohesion! Can you feel, hear, smell and taste said cohesion yet? LOL
Seriously, I love what you are doing and wish I was there to help and learn. What do you think; interested in slave labor?

Sandra says
Mareen, where have you been. I’ve been asking for an apprentice for forever! 🙂
The wall where the tub was is 2x4s, the pocket door is framed with thin metal cradled wood supports that come in a “Pocket Door Kit”. My kit was Johnson Hardware that I bought from Home Depot online. (It was cheaper than directly from the Johnson Hardware website.)

It looks so much better already! I’m curious about your plans for the coat closet… Per code, do you have to provide access to the plumbing that went to the shower?
Sandra says
Not according to the plumber. I’m keeping the coat closet top secret for now. Although, if you follow me on Pinterest, you might have a good idea of what I’m planning. 😀
Deb-IL says
I’d say, “I want to be you when I grow up” but, a) I’m already older than you and haven’t grown up yet so that’s out and b) I know at least SOME of what you do requires math and other than balancing a check book I-don’t-do-math. 🙂
Carry on. You are daily entertainment!
Sandra says
Ugh, math is my second worst subject. Technology is my worst! LOL (So, I just continue to muddle my way through both!)
Pine Tree Home says
It’s always something, no? You are going to love it in the end…just like you want it.
Kelly says
You are my HERO!!
Laura @ Ms Smartie Pants says
Girl you amaze me! How have you learned such skillz??? And can I win you for a week??? 🙂
Sandra says
If I had some amazing sponsors for it, I’d totally do that giveaway!
