Stairs and Upstairs Hallway – House Tour

Today’s house tour includes the Stairs and Hallway Upstairs. This space was featured in Small Spaces Magazine and all over the web.  People love a good Picture Frame Collage Wall!

House Tour - Stairs and Hallway

The wainscoting and picture frame collage extends up the stairs and down the hallway.  I spent a few weeks creating the wainscoting.  It’s MDF that I routed with a “Roman Ogee” bit.  Then I spent another week priming, sanding and painting it.  It took a few days painting and hanging all the picture frames.  Not too bad in terms of time/work for the impact it created.  I love having it extend all the way down both the upstairs and downstairs hallways.  It adds texture and the white and bright paint make the hallway not seem super narrow.

I love what you've done with the place!I think I like this part of the home tour the best… the transformation is simply amazing. It doesn't even look like the same hallway. You are so smart to take before and after pictures. Our old house was a fixer-upper, and we forgot to take before pictures. It was always a bummer telling people, "No, it really did look heinous before we started in here. Really!"

I would totally pay you money to do that in my house. 😉 If I had money to spend, that is. You have really, really improved what started out as an already nice home by most of the world's standards. Great job! Still trying to convince my hubby about wainscoating in what was once the dark creepy living room which we are renaming The Happy Room. It will take a while. Right now it's gone from dreary/creepy to resigned. 😉
