House Tour – Library

Now if you turn around, directly opposite the Dining Room, is the Library.

Here’s what I started with.

IL Den Before

Again, we changed out the flooring, painted the walls and trim.  Then I built this wall of bookcases and that was that!

Built in library bookcases

IL Library

IL library dining room
Bookshelves Materials –  MDF, Pine and Poplar.
Arches –  I created a template on paper and cut them out with a jigsaw then sanded the crap out of them to “perfect” the arch.
Rug – Home Goods (I think)
Armless chairs – Pottery Barn Outlet      (When I lived in San Antonio…miss that store)
Giant wooden bowl – Cabo sometime in the past
Black hutch – Pottery Barn Outlet (It was damaged, but nothing a putty magician like me couldn’t handle)

  2. Love the library and I'm super impressed with the bookcase. Wow. I aspire to be like you… 🙂 Did you install the wood floors yourself or have them installed?

I wondered if maybe you would have potential buyers look at the blog 🙂 If I were looking I would love to see the progress.

  4. do you feel like putting before and after pictures up in each room for the potential buyers to see just exactly how much work and sweat you've put in the house? 🙂 I love 'before and afters'! Everything looks so good!

  5. HEEEYYYYYY — I used to live in San Antonio too, and I loved that PB outlet. (San Marcos right??) I still have things from there that I can't part with, because I don't know if I'll ever find stuff that cute and cheap again. LOL!God, now I really miss Texas. Snow is a real bummer. And no, you don't need more crap on the walls if you're selling. Less is better for showings. Every time I've sold a house, I've gone through and edited everything on the walls. It looks cleaner and bigger that way I think. Love the bookcases!!
