Goodbye Chicago, we’re going to miss you!

We have officially moved out of our Chicagoland home and all our belongings are in storage in Tennessee until we can find a new house to buy.

It’s weird, a little sad and kind of exciting!

Moving was fairly uneventful.  Maddie and I were pretty bored for the first two days.  We lounged on the sofa and watched movies all day,

while the movers packed up all our belongings.

On the third day, the movers loaded up the sofa and everything else in the house!  (COMFY!)

And then they made their way into the garage!

This is what it looked like AFTER everything that was going was packed onto the truck!

We sent some stuff to Goodwill, gave some to friends, returned some ($$ Yipee)  and then put an ad on Craig’s List and left the rest in the driveway.

My neighbor called me yesterday and told me everything was gone!  So glad all this didn’t end up in a landfill.

I swept the floors and then we said goodbye!

It still doesn’t feel final.  I suppose that will come in time.

We’re enjoying exploring our new home state.  It’s beautiful and we’re excited to create new routines and traditions here.

Now, we just have to keep searching for a new house, one that needs some work to keep me busy and happy but not so much that the family will be miserable living through the transformation.

We’re all getting really antsy in this apartment.  I start drooling now whenever I look at design magazines or go through my Pinterest files.

  2. girl, welcome back to the South. 🙂 I decided I’m never going North again, it’s too cold and too expensive.

anyway, can’t wait to see what you find to live in (lol, sounds like I’m expecting a shed or cardboard box). I know that feeling of looking for a house that needs work but isn’t a miserable dump. It’ll come…at least the anticipation is building up. for me at least 🙂

  3. You are amazing! The people moving in to this house are some very lucky new homeowners. I wish the girl who had moved out of the house I just bought cared even 10% as much as you did.

Wow, what an amazing job you did on the house…I don’t think I could leave it behind after all that hard work. But it sounds like you’re ready for you next adventure, and I look forward to your glorious transformations. Best of luck with the house hunting, and enjoy exploring your new surroundings.
