I’m super duper excited about a new series here on Sawdust Girl! Yeah–you heard right! A new series called: In The Kitchen…Lifestyle…Life…When Life gets in the way of DIY…We all have to eat… (Something like that). Why? Well I’ll tell you why…
If you’re a busy DIYer like me then you’re almost always up to your elbows in one project or another and you find yourself not thinking about dinner until dinnertime. I have to plan ahead if I want to feed my family healthy home cooked meals. When I plan ahead, I’m pretty successful with having some means for my family to eat–it’s usually the same 5 meals over and over because I’m not that creative in the kitchen. I know we need more variety in our diets, I just never know what to make outside my 5 recipes.
So I need some help. And because I need some help, I got to thinking, “I bet there are a lot of other DIYers out there that are in the exact same predicament as me”. Why would I think that? Either because “misery likes company” or because I think there are a LOT of us moms and dads and — people in general that have a hard time finding time to balance EVERYTHING we are trying to do. We aren’t all experts at EVERYTHING and sometimes we need a little help in certain areas from people that are experts. So I’ve found some experts for us!
I would LOVE to introduce you to my “food and nutrition” experts Kara and Kami of CheekyChive.com.
Cheeky Chive offers tons of nutritional information about food, lots of recipes and an endless supply of cheeky humor. Did I mention the Cheeky Chive sisters are my awesome cousins? They are!
They are both as crazy as me — but they each have the added benefit of also being super smart, talented and fuuunnny. 🙂
Best part about CheekyChive? They send out a weekly newsletter with menu, shopping list, useful tidbits about a feature food… My favorite part of their website is the 20 minute meals section.
What are they brining to Sawdust Girl? Kara and Kami are going to share some useful tidbit of information every week that will help all us DIY’ers be more successful in the kitchen. I’m so excited for this! Aren’t they just the cutest!??! They seriously are!
So be on the lookout for new posts every Wednesday.
Lifestyle tips for the busy DIY’er! It’s going to be awesome!

Looking forward to it. I’ve found that the crock pot is this DIY’ers best friend. Throw everything in, in the morning before you start to DIY for the day, set it on low and forget about it, until dinner. Get back to DIY after dinner.
Best part, if your DIYing the kitchen, the crockpot just needs a plug anywhere in the house. 😉

This sounds very interesting. I’m excited about the 20 minute meals too.

Just to actually make a weekly meal plan would help me out!

I’m not much of a DIY’er but I am a quilter and often wish I had something planned ahead so I wouldn’t have to stop sewing to go start supper. I look forward to your “getting-cheeky-with-it” series of posts!

You are definitely right about not even thinking about what’s for dinner until my husband asks and then I am scrambling to throw something together. He knows how to cook. I would love for him to have dinner on the table a few times a week. Maybe I will forward the posts to him. Probably not, so I hope you have something fast and spicy I can throw together and enjoy eating. Thanks for always thinking about us.
