Banana Boats (easiest recipe ever for a kinda’ healthy dessert)

We usually like to have a sweet treat after dinner.  Not every night. — but just about.  Sometimes it’s plain fruit.  Sometimes it’s pie or cake or brownies or cookies…  (Usually it’s not just plain fruit.)  Sometimes we want a treat but don’t have the energy or ingredients to make cookies or brownies or pie…  so what do we make?

Banana boats!  (Which are the best of both worlds, fruit and the other junk rolled into one.)

I did say “kinda’ healthy” !

I did say “Easiest Recipe Ever”!

-Cut the tops off the bananas.

– Cut a slit in the bananas but don’t cut through the bottom peel.

-Shove as many chocolate chips and marshmallows as you can fit into each banana.

-Bake on 350 for 5-10 minutes.  Until the chocolate is melted and the marshmallows puff up.  I like to broil for a bit and toast the marshmallows at the very end.

It turns the peel dark but you won’t care once you sink your teeth into your first delicious bite.

Enjoy with a spoon or just peel and eat like a regular — chocolate and marshmallow infused banana.

Try it.

 I dare you.

It’s divine … and oh – so- easy!

And not terribly bad for you.  After all, it’s made mostly of bananas!

Yummy. I was just reading you new post, and although I remembered seeing this post a while back, I clicked on it and put my last banana to work. This was the best treat I have had in a long time. Cheers to you for sharing!!

Awesome fun idea! Gonna do this camping this year!

  3. Yum, also an old Girl Scout favorite, never thought to make them at home!

  4. These are my favorite camping (or backyard fake camping, ie: building a fire in the fire pit and then sleeping in our own beds) treat. We wrap them in tin foil and put them in the coals. Yum! I like them better than s’mores.
