Why would a gal like me, likely THE most un-tech-savvy person on the planet, choose to go from PC to Mac and Blogger to WordPress in the same month? I mean, one or the other would have knocked me on my butt for a good while all by itself! But both? Why would I? I’m searching the deepest corners of my soul and consciousness for the answer. I did ok with the computer thing at home (I mean the one in IL that still houses all our “stuff”) because I had my PC and my Mac and I could just switch back and forth. But we didn’t have room to bring my big old computer (or my miter saw but that’s beside the point.) But the blogging platform thing…that one’s got me by the nose!
Have you ever heard of someone switching from WordPress to Blogger? Just wondering.
Oh, by the way, Happy “You made it through your first week in the apartment” to me! We are still waiting for the furniture rental place to visit us for the 4th time and deliver a chest of drawers so we can put the rest of our clothes away. It really is like a long vacation when you have to pull your clothes out of a suitcase (or in this case a plastic bin) every day. It’s supposed to be delivered today so I guess the “Move-In” honeymoon is about to end. We’ll have to pull open an actual drawer to find our unmentionables from now on! And I’m telling you that I’ll grin and bear it because I am not one to complain!
HA!

It does have a little bit of a learning curve switching from PC to Mac. One of my first jobs out of college was to sell Dell computers. So I was very comfortable with my PCs. But hubby here only allows Macs in the house…since that is what he does for a living. 😉 But I can honestly say that I now have no desire to switch back to PCs.

Well I do like my Mac but there are a couple things I miss. I think I’ll keep both in the new house. (Whenever that happens.)
Jane @ The Borrowed Abode says
I did both a while back! And although there was a bit of a learning curve with both, I am SO glad I migrated to WordPress. I would never go back to blogger. If you get stumped with something maybe I can help – just drop me a line.
Good luck!
Sawdust and Paper Scraps says
I’m walking the line of the learning curve kind. Hope I’ll get the hang of it soon and love it too. I’ll put your email contact info on speed dial, so to speak. I’m sure I’ll need lots of help. 🙂

Hope you’re enjoying your first week in your new place!! Im soooo excited for you and all the amazing things to come.
Hahaha, I keep hearing people switch to WordPress but I like my Blogger :0) Creature of habit I suppose
Sawdust and Paper Scraps says
I’m a total creature of habit too. That’s why these changes together are kicking my boot! I know I’ll get the hang of it sooner or later and then, hopefully, it’ll have been worth the pain. I’ll let you know in about 6 months.

I hope you made yourself a cake to celebrate? I’m loving your positive attitude. Way to go girl!
Sawdust and Paper Scraps says
Oh Brandy, I think a cake sounds like a fabulous idea! I was being completely sarcastic by the way. The whole post was pretty much a big complaint…but I was grinning while I complained so I guess I still at least have my sense of humor.

WordPress is a nightmare!! Though I hear that once you get the hang of it, it’s not so bad (my one encounter was enough to scare me back to blogger for a L-O-N-G time). And Mac? Oh, Mac, how do I love thee? Too many ways to count.
Luckily you don’t have all your tools and have nothing better to do but sit down and figure all this stuff out! Good luck!
Sawdust and Paper Scraps says
Of course you’re absolutely right. I’ve got nothing but time on my hands…for now.

I love my Mac but had to buy a PC laptop for work last month. Hubby has my Mac but I still have visitation rights.
Discovered your blog through Brittany at Pretty Handy Girl. Cool site!

It took several “lessons” before I got the hang of WordPress. You can do it! 🙂
You really are going through a lot. I wish I could send you a meal and give you a break. That dresser will help….yeesh! That would drive me crazy. 🙂 Lisa~

Sign me up. 🙂 I’m figuring it out and I think it’ll be ok in the end. Now I just need to buy a house so I have something to blog about. haha

I’ve gone from Blogger to WordPress and back to Blogger. I gave WordPress over a year and it just didn’t work for me. I can’t even remember why at this point, I’ve been back at blogger for over a year now and I don’t think I would go back.
Sawdust and Paper Scraps says
Wow Donna, you tried WP for a year and then switched back? Well, now I know that road has already been paved if I decide to go that route to. I hope I won’t have to bounce around though. I move enough in real life. 🙂
Katie from Sew Woodsy says
First off, congrats! That is a lot of big changes at once. I have to use WordPress for work and it’s forcing me to learn more about it. I’m on the fence about buying a domain name and transitioning over to WordPress. Your blog looks awesome!
I’ve been an apple user since 2006 and could never go back. We bought an iMac for home last Christmas and for the first few weeks Mr. Woodsy was confused; however, now he feels the same way I do… he could never go back to a PC! Hang in there… you will eventually LOVE it!
