I think I’m about half way done with this project. I was taping and mudding and decided to just retexture ALL the walls.
I was originally thinking I’d hide the REALLY HEAVY texture by applying wainscoting in choice spots. I’ll probably still do that but I want the house to look good now, not just …whenever I get to the wainscoting. It’s not going to help the house be more functional so it’s not a priority right now. So I’m troweling joint compound on the walls, smooshing it into the voids and then smoothing it out. I’m not making the walls Completely Smooth. I’m going for more of a “California Texture” or “Hand Troweled” look. It’s really hard to get walls PERFECTLY smooth, especially since there’s already SO much texture there.
We’ll see how it looks after it’s primed. I think no matter what it looks like when I’m done, I’ll like it better than I do now. I’m not stressing about this project. I’m just going with the flow and taking things as they come.
Thought I’d share a Mid Project -Video.
Hope you have a great weekend. Don’t work to hard!

That video was awesome. The part where you climb through the ceiling was completely badass!

LOL! Thanks Kimberly.

I am still amazed at all the hard work your willing to conquer! The videos make it seem so easy & fast – both of which I know are not! Kudos for letting us share in your remodeling.

I like to watch it come together in fast forward because it’s a quick reminder of how much has been accomplished. Sometimes it feels like I’ve been working for weeks and gotten practically nothing done. Plus, it’s satisfying to SEE some progress. 😀

I always love seeing your progress videos!

Thanks Katie.

I agree, the ceiling climbing made me laugh out loud and say WOAHHH.
Sandra says
I had to climb in and out about 5 times. I tried doing chin ups a few times but I’m too weak. I had to put my foot on the ladder for a little “help”. (I couldn’t post that embarrassment though. LOL)

Loved Brody in the pen watching you.

Is this to prove to your husband that you work while he is away 😉
Sandra says
Oh yes, showing him a video is so much more effective than trying to explain how hard I’ve worked when he asks, “So, what did you do today?” LOL
Emma says
You are amazing! You should tell us the real time ( hours) it took you to do all that work.
Sandra says
Well, my closet took 600 hours. When I’m done with this, I’ll tally them up…but I really hope it doesn’t take me THAT long again.

CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING SO TALENTED!!! Your hard work is inspiring and I use your posts and videos often to convince my husband that we can “totally DIY that (insert huge dreamy carpentry project here),” ha ha!
Best of luck :o)
Sandra says
Whatever I can do to help convince a husband…they have such little faith sometimes. (Or mine does at least.) LOL

I first took notice of your talents on your Master Closet redo that flooded pinterest. I check in every few days as a break from my Etsy work/fun. I watched this short video and said “she is bad BLEEP!” You crack me up–climbing into the ceiling. You are sooo talented and how is it you don’t have your own show??? Love your energy and talents!
Sandra says
Thank you so much Kristin!
Jean says
I can’t get over the fact that you do this all by yourself!! Holy moly, girl! Badass ain’t the half of it!
Sandra says
LOL I’m starting to think I should rename my blog: “Badass DIY”. Ha. That would be funny!
Kathy S. says
I told my husband just this weekend that you are my blog hero and now you give me video to show him exactly why.
Thank you for continued inspiration!
