Behind the Blog: My Home Remodels
I started remodeling the homes I’ve lived in long before blogging—or even digital cameras. I don’t have photos of my first three houses, but the Illinois house was the first I attempted to document online. Below, you’ll find my home remodel projects, listed from most recent to oldest.

The Lodge
Our current live-in renovation! This “house” is still a work in progress—and it’s a BIG space and a big undertaking. Living in it as our actual home was never the original plan, but here we are—rolling with it. Follow along as I work through it room by room with built-ins, custom cabinetry, and plenty of real-life problem solving.

Maryville TN House
An oddly laid-out 6000 sq/ft house that sat on the market for years. We bought it even though it didn’t make sense—yet. I didn’t even have a plan for how I’d make it work, but I knew I’d figure it out. And honestly? Now that we’re living in The Lodge, I miss this house more than I expected.

Calderwood Cottage
A flip house my sister Julie and I took on with rental plans that didn’t stick—because we made it way too nice to rent. After remodeling it beautifully (and blowing the budget), we sold it instead.

Illinois House
Even though this was my fourth house to tackle, it was the first one I started documenting and sharing online. I had already started my cabinet-building journey in the house before, so this is where I really began honing those skills—and sharing some of the process as I went. I honed my “blogging” skills more in the next house.
Love a good Before-and-After?
These remodels are where I refined my cabinet-building skills. Now I work with clients to bring their own custom built-ins to life—from the first sketch to the final fit.
