Reality Check
Hey there! I thought it might be interesting for you to see what my house looks like RIGHT NOW, in the middle of two big projects.
We’ve been living like this for a while now. I built my countertop and even cut out the sink hole and then left the whole laundry room project to collect dust…
…while I get some kind of office built. I got my walls nice and smooth.
I got as far as purchasing a new fan and can lights this weekend but they’re still sitting in the boxes.
Because LIFE happens. Things come up with work, people think they need to have some fun on the weekends, Dr appointments happen, I have to pick people up from school — twice, because they forget they have band practice…
Life is why DIY projects always takes three times longer than expected. And that’s a good thing. Because LIFE is the important stuff.
Thanks!!! i am so glad to see someone else’s Work-In-Progress….. cuz my house looks like this often.
My family has just become used to it, I think.
I find too that I lose interest in one project before it is completely done, then charge onto another one.
Maybe I need to focus?
Nah……..
Sooo true! Life is the important thing, which is why my laundry room makeover has been stalled for a couple of weeks now. I have hung cabinets, and painted one coat and then stopped. I need to put up board and batten, which half is already up. But I just haven’t had the time or the want to to do the next thing. It’ll all happen in time. They definitely all take so much longer than I ever expect. But that’s OK! 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Mine looks a lot like that too. I LOVE to DIY. In fact I just finished building a behemoth broom closet/cabinet because the old one was sloppily built (just like everything else he did) by the previous owner, coming apart, and my vacuum wouldn’t fit but it’s done except for painting because “I’m letting the caulk dry.” But now I understand why my SIL’s house is so clean. Sometimes I think how nice it would be when my house is finished and it would stay clean.
Mine is like yours but it’s not because “life happens” it’s because I am afraid to finish the projects, painting, etc… I am so afraid of doing a good job or a bad job that i don’t just go and DO IT!
So if you’ll excuse me, I have to get some work done around here before “life happens” and I won’t be able to do it!
thanks for the motivation!
Welp at least your hallways are mega wide? hehe
