Protect your fingers -use a drive guide with retractible sleeve

A good drill/driver is probably the most utilized tool in any workshop.  It certainly is in mine.  But there’s a handy gadget that I couple with my drill/driver that I would NOT want to be without; a drive guide with a retractible sleeve.  This holds the screw in place and protects my fingers while I drive screws into my workpiece.  Holding on to threaded screws while the driver spins it rapidly can be painful.

The sleeve on the drive guide extends out over the screw, holding it in place so it doesn’t wobble and giving you something to hold — that doesn’t hurt!  The sleeve retracts back over the bit extender as the screw sinks into the wood so you can see how far your driving it into the wood.

A drive guide with retractible sleeve will cost between $5-$10 at any home improvement store.  It’s an inexpensive addition that will earn it’s keep over and over again.

Try it –  I bet you’ll love it!
