Stairs and Upstairs Hallway – House Tour
Today’s house tour includes the Stairs and Hallway Upstairs. This space was featured in Small Spaces Magazine and all over the web. People love a good Picture Frame Collage Wall!
The wainscoting and picture frame collage extends up the stairs and down the hallway. I spent a few weeks creating the wainscoting. It’s MDF that I routed with a “Roman Ogee” bit. Then I spent another week priming, sanding and painting it. It took a few days painting and hanging all the picture frames. Not too bad in terms of time/work for the impact it created. I love having it extend all the way down both the upstairs and downstairs hallways. It adds texture and the white and bright paint make the hallway not seem super narrow.
I absolutely LOVE your photo frame walls! I am going to try to incorporate the idea into my home. Can you tell me the finish of the paint you used on the frames. They look matte to me, but I wanted to make sure.
Thank you for responding to our questions and posts. I posted something last week, and you quickly responded and answered my question. I have a couple more…1. I noticed that your entry wainscoting is taller than your upstairs hallway wainscoting. Is that because your ceilings are higher downstairs? And, what is the exact measurements of each? I am somewhat sure, going by where they line up compared to your doors (as I have the same doors).2. How many inches wide are each piece of the horizontal and vertical moldings (MDF)? They seem to be about 4 inches or so, but hard to tell on the pictures. And the bottom one is about double that?Again, thanks to much for the inspiration. You have truly worked very hard to make your house a home, and it [email protected]
