Decorative Chalkboard Craft
I’m participating in the Scribble Shop Crafter’s Challenge. They sent me and a group of other crafty bloggers a box of supplies and we were challenged to try to use as many of them as we could in ONE craft. I used ALMOST all of them. I’m making a Decorative Chalkboard.
This is what I received.
Making a Decorative Chalkboard
I used a scrap piece of 1/4″ hardboard and some twine from my own supplies.
I created a template out of paper and then traced it onto the hardboard.
Cut it out with a jigsaw and sanded the edges.
I primed it and then painted it with the chalkboard paint.
Then I used the fabric, feathers and glitter brads to make some Rosettes.
Glitter, Done!
I used a high temp hot glue gun to glue on my twine. That stuff is STRONG! (Just don’t burn your fingers!)
OK, so I didn’t end up using the Roving. I originally wrapped it around my twine but Maddie said it looked sloppy compared to everything else so I let it go. So, I concede to the crafters that were able to use ALL of their product.
I had a blast trying to come up with something.
And I like the message Wes wrote. It’s our daily motto!
Disclaimer: I was provided product and a stipend to cover my time and expenses when making this project. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.
Thank you Jen!
Definitely. I wish I would have first painted the board with metalic paint so it would hold magnets and made the flowers into magnets. That would have been awesome. I just stuck them on with tape. LOL
Now I know that warm soapy water makes it shrink…don’t know that I would do it any differently with that knowledge now. I might have gone an entirely different route though. LOL
Thank you Amanda.
I LOVE IT!!! seriously, so cute!!!
