SOLD
We sold our house!
We actually got the offer 2 days after we moved out here so it’s been driving me crazy not to share but I didn’t want to say anything until it was final. Because you know how things can turn around on you and that would have been anticlimactic!
Anyway, we been going through the motions of negotiating back and forth, waiting for the inspection then the inspection report and then the buyers letter asking for every little possible thing to be “fixed”… which is actually just a reason to negotiate for more $$ back- or off the price of the house. You know the drill!
So we’ll be heading back in a couple weeks so the movers can pack up all our belongings (the ones we don’t have here anyway) and store it…because we can not find a house to purchase here!
I’m not kidding.
We’ve been looking for houses here for 2 months essentially (looking at listings and actuall houses for 3 weeks) and my “listing report” is just the same 15 houses every week.
It’s sad.
We are thinking of expanding our search to other areas of Knoxville even though that would defeat the purpose of moving out here for the last 5 weeks of school here. Maddie wanted to meet some friends to hang out with during the summer and start the next year with. Also, we chose this area because we wanted her in this school system.
Oh well. What-a-ya-do?
We really want to find our next house soon. Really soon!
Apartment life is something. You forget after 12 years of home ownership.
Some people complain about home ownership, that there’s always something to fix.
That’s true, I suppose but…
I’ll take it.
It sure beats twiddling my thumbs!
Congratulations! That is awesome! I’m crossing my fingers for your next house. I cannot wait to see you in action again!
Thanks Brandy. I’m chomping at the bit to get my hands on another house. CHOMPING!
Great news! I’m sure the new buyers are just thrilled with all the renovations you did. I guess you have to be patient for the right house, but I can only assume it must be hard to be in that situation.
I have no idea what the buyers thought. Obviously they liked the house but I’m not sure our built-ins will survive. We kept getting notes from our Realtor asking if there is wood floor under the built ins. They don’t want the craft island at all. We’re taking it with us because I don’t want it to end up having a sledge hammer taken to it like in all the “Home Improvement” shows on TV. I can’t even imagine what they were thinking when they went into the basement and saw the craft room. “What in the world is this big “table” (that’s what they called it) doing in the middle of this room? What a waste of space. I’d much rather have a big open space in the middle of the room.”
Maybe?
Of course, I’m biased because I designed MY perfect space. I don’t care what they do with it when it’s theirs. Whatever!
Yes PLEASE take it with you, it’s perfect for you but I guess not them! Would be such a shame to have it dismantled!!
Congratulations! If I were buying your house it would have been because of your craft room!! 🙂
Oh, that breaks my heart… really! I can’t imagine someone not walking into that AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL craft room and saying, WOW! I can’t wait to spend ALL of my time in here. Sigh. I wish I had found your site sooner, I may have begged my husband to let us move and buy your home. Even though he’s a Marine and stationed at Quantico, VA – I would have worked hard to get my way! What a gorgeous home! Can’t wait to see what you do with the next one!
We just bought a home here, our first actually… and I have no experience in remodeling/redoing anything. Well except bedroom furniture that I once refinished and loved it. I love to craft and I can’t wait to redo a lot of our home but I need inspiration and your blog/site is JUST that!
Thanks!!
Congrats! your perfect home is out there, believe me it took a while to find my perfect home in an area of massive foreclosures and short sales.
I wonder if the foreclosures and short sales are found in a different place than the regular old fashioned “for sales”. Maybe that’s the problem. I’ll have to ask my Realtor about that. Here’s hoping we find something.
Foreclosures should be listed with the regular MLS since banks hire them to make the sale. Short sales would depend on who the owner got to represent them, but usually it’s on the regular MLS as well.
Rats! That means there really is nothing here. 🙂
Find a realtor who specializes in foreclosures. There are lots in Knoxville that aren’t listed on the KAAR MLS website. The REOs are the foreclosed ones listed by a realtor. I live in Knoxville too and am trying to find a new home with at least an acre. There’s only 5 available on the MLS but I’ve found more that the banks aren’t listing. Good luck!
You could also try homes for sale by owner.
CONGRATS!!!! Oh Im soooooooo happy for you guys. And the perfect NEW home is just waiting for you to get everything settled first :0)
I like your positive attitude. Maddie keeps telling us we are being too picky and we aren’t going to find a home thats “perfect”. Honestly, I’d settle for “in the ballpark”.
Congratulations! I hope you find your potential dream house soon. I know you must be itching to start building and putting your stamp on a house.
Yes I am! Itching real bad!!! 🙂
