I must be the messiest mudder there is. I’m covered in the stuff! I am making progress though.
I usually leave big “Mudding” jobs to the professionals and I may hire someone in for the last coat. Right now I’m just doing the messy prep work: taping, filling screw dimples, leveling the new drywall out with the old stuff that is CAKED with texture. It’s a lot of work but I’m so happy I tore out that closet and opened up that doorway into the Formal Living room.
It feels 100% better already. (Still not spilling the beans on what my plans are on that new coat closet…because I still haven’t made up my mind.)
Yep, 100% glad I tore out that BIG OLE’ coat closet!

Sandy, I thought you were crazy (sorry) in the beginning giving up an extra full bathroom and coat closet…. BUT oh my it looks amazing with the living room opened up and in the end all that you “lost” was a tub/shower!!!! Looking GOOD!!!!!

I think my husband thought I was crazy too but he’s been with me long enough to trust me (usually after an inquisition type go ’round of questioning me about every aspect. LOL)
And he likes it too. 😀

It always gets worse before it gets better. Yesterday I had my hands covered with caulk and paint, but the end result is always good, no?

Just curious and maybe you already addressed this issue, I thought you planned on putting your Christmas tree in this new corner and now I see a closet lol. Did you find a new spot for the Xmas tree? Love watching your progress whatever you decide tho!!

Are the homes in your area cookie cutter style, so that some of your neighbors have the same floor plan? Whenever I’ve lived in those kinds of houses and I tear out walls and move things around my neighbors come over and they can’t believe it’s the same as their house. I am lo-o-oving what yo have done so far. Lisa~
