Goodbye Chicago, we’re going to miss you!

We have officially moved out of our Chicagoland home and all our belongings are in storage in Tennessee until we can find a new house to buy.

It’s weird, a little sad and kind of exciting!

Moving was fairly uneventful.  Maddie and I were pretty bored for the first two days.  We lounged on the sofa and watched movies all day,

while the movers packed up all our belongings.

On the third day, the movers loaded up the sofa and everything else in the house!  (COMFY!)

And then they made their way into the garage!

This is what it looked like AFTER everything that was going was packed onto the truck!

We sent some stuff to Goodwill, gave some to friends, returned some ($$ Yipee)  and then put an ad on Craig’s List and left the rest in the driveway.

My neighbor called me yesterday and told me everything was gone!  So glad all this didn’t end up in a landfill.

I swept the floors and then we said goodbye!

It still doesn’t feel final.  I suppose that will come in time.

We’re enjoying exploring our new home state.  It’s beautiful and we’re excited to create new routines and traditions here.

Now, we just have to keep searching for a new house, one that needs some work to keep me busy and happy but not so much that the family will be miserable living through the transformation.

We’re all getting really antsy in this apartment.  I start drooling now whenever I look at design magazines or go through my Pinterest files.

  1. I like that – “The House that Sandra Built”! Although I didn’t actually build the house. But yes, on to new adventures!

Adventures in sewing, crafting, baking, bike riding, yoga…what else can a gal keep herself busy with until she finds another house to “build”?

  2. Aw, Sandra… it makes me a little sad to see that lovely house (and all the work you put into it) all empty-like. I hope the new owners appreciate how fabled the House that Sandra built has become!

So glad you sold it, though… and now… on to new adventures!

  3. Your signature is all over that house, what lucky homeowners! Can’t wait to see what you do with the next one.

  4. Sandra, I wish you the best of luck finding the perfect fixer upper!
