Goodbye Chicago, we’re going to miss you!

We have officially moved out of our Chicagoland home and all our belongings are in storage in Tennessee until we can find a new house to buy.

It’s weird, a little sad and kind of exciting!

Moving was fairly uneventful.  Maddie and I were pretty bored for the first two days.  We lounged on the sofa and watched movies all day,

while the movers packed up all our belongings.

On the third day, the movers loaded up the sofa and everything else in the house!  (COMFY!)

And then they made their way into the garage!

This is what it looked like AFTER everything that was going was packed onto the truck!

We sent some stuff to Goodwill, gave some to friends, returned some ($$ Yipee)  and then put an ad on Craig’s List and left the rest in the driveway.

My neighbor called me yesterday and told me everything was gone!  So glad all this didn’t end up in a landfill.

I swept the floors and then we said goodbye!

It still doesn’t feel final.  I suppose that will come in time.

We’re enjoying exploring our new home state.  It’s beautiful and we’re excited to create new routines and traditions here.

Now, we just have to keep searching for a new house, one that needs some work to keep me busy and happy but not so much that the family will be miserable living through the transformation.

We’re all getting really antsy in this apartment.  I start drooling now whenever I look at design magazines or go through my Pinterest files.

  2. Happy to hear you are all moved out and ready for your new adventure. How are you liking TN so far? Are the houses priced better than here in Chicago?

  3. Sandra! I’m so sad looking at the empty house photos! I’ve never moved out of a place that I couldn’t go back to visit and that is on my horizon this year when we build our new house. How do you do that? How do you leave all your hard work? 🙁 Miss talking to you but can’t wait to see what’s going on house-wise in TN! 🙂
I hope you find something soon!

  4. Even I miss your craft room! And I didn’t live in it! Heck, I don’t even know you! But OMG, how I wish I had your ex-house…

  5. Sandra with the house empty it really shows off your all your wood workmanship, what a great post for your resume! I’m so looking forward to watching the next episode when you do find that ‘needs serious TLC’ house.
