Library

I’m delivering on my promise to show you this room by the end of the week.  I’m calling it the “Whatever Room” because it has no purpose other than storing books but I wouldn’t exactly call it a library.

It’s not exactly perfect, but it’s good enough for now.
*I built the bookshelves out of MDF and used pine for the face frame and doors.
*I painted the bookshelves and trim the same colors as the trim and cabinets in the rest of the house and you can find that info on my FAQ’s Page.

Maddie is going to be dragging up all the Halloween boxes first thing in the morning on Oct.1.  She is a little Halloween obsessed and can hardly wait to decorate so next time you see this room it will be all Spookified!

  5. I am going to repeat myself and the others, you are good! I really the library feel. I am a book crazy myself, so I understand the need!It looks like you also change the floor, it adds to the library feel.How much would you estimate it cost you to build something like that, just for wood, screws, supplies in general? (of course not including your time!)I got sticker shock this other day when I went to buy some wood….

  7. Good question Morgane. I always forget some detail or other. 🙂 I estimate it cost me around $500. The hardware (hinges and knobs) were about $100 and I probably spent $300 to $400 on the MDF, Beadboard (for the backs) and pine for face frames.

  18. OK, so I just showed this to my husband "mr woodworker" and said… he has no excuses now, and he instantly admitted "this lady is better than me. WAY better than me! Great job! I am wanting something similar for our living room except with a tv cut out! GREAT JOB as always!!!
