You might remember about a month ago I wrote a post about Switching up the light switches in my house. There are a few light switches in my house that kept getting left on — all the time. Every day I’d go shut off the lights in “someone’s” room, closet and bathroom! It drove me SERIOUSLY crazy! So I decided to save my sanity and take some action. I replaced key light switches with Lutron’s Maestro occupancy/vacancy light switches.
They are amazing. They can be set up different ways so they can function as an “Ocupancy” or “Vacancy” light switch. So you can set up your switch to detect when you enter the room and turn on the light. When you leave the room it shuts the light off after a few minutes too.
OR, you can set it up to where you have to manually turn ON the light but it shuts off after there is no movement in the room for a few minutes. This is the setting you want if it’s a bedroom — otherwise the light turns on every time you roll over or shift positions in your sleep. Take it from me, that get’s annoying!
But I tell you what! It sure makes me smile every time I walk passed Madison’s room and see the light on after she has just left for school because I know that light is magically going to shut off in about 3 minutes. It’s awesome!
In the guest bedroom downstairs where there is no light switch by the bathroom entrance, the light turns on when you enter without having to stumble across the room to the other entrance to turn on the light. I tell you what — these switches have saved me a lot of time and money where I was going to have to rewire to add another switch in all the rooms in this house that have two entrances and only one light switch.
Don’t ask me why it’s set up that way because that topic gets me all riled up! And I’m trying to be more Zen…
I LOVE these switches so much that I’m giving away 5 Lutron Maestro light switches to one lucky winner! If your house is anything like mine, you’ll need that many.
