You’ve probably seen this message elsewhere, so it may not surprise you to read this, but there are some DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS out there, stealing blog content from me and hundreds of others.
Apparently, it’s easy to do.
Sadly, it’s happening A LOT.
I work my butt off, doing projects, taking pictures, writing posts…and as soon as I hit “Publish”, there are sites that grab (scrape) my content right out of my “Feed” and publish it on their own site.
The NERVE!
So what’s a girl to do?
I have to “Truncate” my feed to make it harder for MY content to be STOLEN.
What does it mean to truncate? It means that if you read my blog in email, or a reader, you will only get a summary and then you have to “CLICK” over to read it directly from my blog.
Some people think that is a huge pain in the patoosky. If you are in that group, I’m sorry.
I’m trying to figure out a way to give you a picture along with the snippet so you’ll know if it’s something you want to take the time to click over for, but right now I it’s just a snippet.
I hope you’ll stick with me.
This won’t stop thievery altogether, but it’ll sure make it a lot harder for people to steal other peoples’ hard work. So take that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels out there!
Oh, and if you ever read MY content somewhere else (that is not an obvious Guest post on a friend’s blog), give them the What For, because they are the reason for this pain in the patoosky , truncating hullabaloo that has to take place now.
Thanks!

Ouch! Must remember to watermark those photos! I don’t always do that, because I think, “who on earth would claim this?”
Watermarking is a must nowadays. Though, I’ve heard of some bloggers who have had their pictures stolen and the watermark removed. That takes a lot of nerve!
Amazing what some people will stoop to!! I will click over to you no matter what. Love your blog and your inspiration.
Thank you Colleen!
I have it done as well and I linked to you in my post.
Ugh, how poopy!! Also bummer because I’m one who prefers whole posts in feeds.
I googled and found a way to insert the feature photo into my feed… but I don’t know if the snippet feeds will grab it.
Best of luck!
No worries – will always click through…
Haven’t been watermarking any of my photos, although they’re all personal/people type pix… but I think I’ll go back and start doing it.
CMOA – words to live by, right?!?! (If anyone needs a translation: Cover My Own A-s!)
That’s so frustrating. Thanks for the tip. I’d be so ticked if my stuff was stolen, the nerve!
No fear, I will click as many times as needed to read your blog.
some of the others that i follow are having to do this also. I guess they not only find the information worth claiming as their own but they get the added benefit of spoiling what has such a wholesome atmosphere.
Some people! I always love visiting your blog!
I am not a fan of truncating, but I am a fan of you so I will gladly click on over!
