We took the weekend off to go see some sights, visit some touristy areas, make the obligatory trek to Gatlinburg for foot long corn dogs and caramel apples. (I know there must be something I’m missing about Gatlinburg because as far as I can see, it’s all about food!) We did go up in the space needle but Madison is not a fan of heights and neither is Wes…and neither is my mom. They all went back down as soon as the elevator opened back up (they were hugging the walls for 4 minutes). Dad and I stayed up for another 4 minutes. I can understand them not particularly enjoying it, the slightest wind made the entire thing sway. I was almost nervous…and I’m practically fearless.
So Tuesday came and Wes and Maddie had school and work, respectively, and my dad was chomping at the bit to get to work on something. We finished up the pocket door. It needs a couple more coats of mud and trim -but it’s in and it glides amazingly smooth.
Then Dad wanted to get into something else! I have a plan to trade out a door in the master bedroom that goes out onto the porch – with the window off the kitchen that I want an entrance from outside.
Having a door from OUTSIDE coming directly INTO my BEDROOM freaks me out every time Wes is out of town and we have never once used it. I planned on having a professional do it…or at least do some research first and be 100% sure that I can do it before I start cutting into it.
My dad wanted to start cutting into it. Luckily, I’m leaving tomorrow to go to Blissdom so I won’t be around to help (supervise) so I talked him out of it. Fhew! Wes would have seriously had a heart attack!
We opted to move the tree that was planted right in front of the window, along with some shrubs and transplant them elsewhere…that way that part will be done when we do decide to make this little alcove an entrance.
And Wes decided to work from home tomorrow and Friday, just to make sure my dad doesn’t decide to go crazy with the reciprocal saw while I’m gone!
