I realize the lights in most of my Master Closet pictures show up as large glowing masses. I wanted to try to capture them so you could actually SEE them. This required precision timing and mad camera setting adjustment skills! The bulbs in the closet are all “Daylight” CFLs so I had to take the picture before the bulbs had time to heat up, which is not very long with the new CFLs on the market these days.
Anyway…The closet originally had two large Old School Fluorescent light fixtures. Yummy!
I knew I wanted a rectangular “drum” shade , finding them was difficult.
I searched “brick and mortar” stores.
I searched and searched online…and finally found quite a few long, rectangular light fixtures at Overstock.com.
This is the one I loved…and bought.
The shades are linen and have some texture and are definitely more ivory than they show in the picture on the site. But I read the reviews and expected that and actually like that they are not stark white.
They were a P.I.T.A to install though. I had to take the first one down several times and cut the metal threaded rod with pipe cutters so it would sit flush with the ceiling. The second one went in easily because I knew what I needed to do before I climbed up on the ladder 10 times!
The instructions were obviously written by someone who had not mastered the English language. It was HILARIOUS reading them after the 7 time up the ladder when I finally decided to LOOK at the instructions …and then they were absolutely no help.
I love how they look but don’t want to install lights again for a good while!
