I hope you all had a great weekend. We did! We went to the Foothills Fall Festival and saw Sara Evans Friday night and The Band Perry and Reba on Saturday. Last night was Chicago but we gave our tickets away because we were too tired to go out.
We spent the whole day moving all the boxes from the main floor either up or downstairs! Now it doesn’t look like we just moved in. It’s been 2 months so it’s about time!
I’m working hard to finish the Master Closet but every day I’m thinking about all the other rooms in the house that need “fixing” and what I’m going to do with them. The problem is, every decision hinges on another decision so I have at least 2-5 ideas for every room.
For instance, this hallway, could go three completely different directions and be to create functional spaces for us.
1. I could build Built-In Bookshelves (how many rolling ladders in one house is too many?)

2. It could be a great place to display all my Colorful Picture Frames and I could build some storage cabinets, either bookshelves or otherwise…

3. Or it could be a hallway of Lockers and Storage. If I did this option, I’d probably have a combination of closed storage with pretty doors and open lockers with a bench…or something!

I haven’t decided if the formal living room is going to be a music room or a Library so that decision has to be made first as well as deciding if the eat in breakfast room will be a music room or my craft room and that depends on the decision about the formal living room…
I’m having a really difficult time deciding how this hallway should function! What would you do?

Oh! And maybe some wainscoting (faux or real) on the opposite side!
definitely with you on the wainscoting on the opposite wall (and a barn door but that’s a secret. HAHA)
I wish you would come fix my house of awkardness. I love your ideas!
You could, with that amount of space, go for a combination. Bookshelves…perhaps three set equidistant along the wall and in between two of them put in a storage bench with a reading light(s) mounted on the side(s) of the bookcases. Add inviting cushion, throw pillows, and perhaps some hooks above and you have a place to store boots/shoes/whatever and a comfy reading area. In between the next bookcases you could put in the dresser storage or another bench with drawers underneath. The opposite wall could be the gallery above the wainscoating. I hope you can understand what I’m describing because I have an awesome visual in MY head!
Ooops! Just noticed how old the original post was….guess I’m a little late. I just got so excited when I saw that hallway!
