Fabric Rosettes are super easy to make and the spruce up simple items and make them look cute and unique! There are already 1000 different tutorials for fabric Rosettes (Just Google it if you don’t believe me) so this is not a tutorial for that.
But in case you haven’t seen one, here is Rosette making in a nutshell: take a strip of fabric, ruffle it, then wind and rumple and smoosh it round and round itself until you have something that looks sort of Rose-like. Or, you come out with some other shaped wad of fabric that you are happy with!
You have to stitch it together with a needle and thread as you go so it keeps it’s shape. You can sew a button or bead in the middle if you want that look.
Now that we have the Rosettes down. Here are some REALLY INEXPENSIVE Gift Ideas that you can make with them!
Rosette Headband
Supplies: Elastic Headbands from the Dollar Store (6 For $1), scrap fabric, needle and thread. Optional: 1 or 2 Buttons.
Instructions:
1. Make fabric Rosette following any of the 1000000 instructions you can Google or my mini tute above.
2. Sew Rosette onto Headband.
Elastic Rings
Supplies: One (6 for a dollar) headband, scrap fabric and buttons.
Instructions:
1. Cut the headband to finger size and sew it back together. You can do this with a machine or by hand I used a needle and thread. It’s not pretty but will be covered up so I don’t mind.
2. Sew on either a cluster of buttons or a rosette.
Dollar Store Flip-flops
Supplies: Flipflops, scrap fabric, buttons, glue gun, needle and thread.
The possibilities for Inexpensive, Creative, Handmade Gifts are endless.
I’m having trouble with the Link Party (as in I can’t get into my account) so please check back tomorrow and link up your own Handmade Gift Projects.
On a personal note: We finally came to a decision on a house and have a contract on one, Yeah! BUT, we may be pulling that offer as we discovered some disturbing news about the zoning and other things. I don’t want this post to be about that though so I’ll update you on THAT issue on Facebook, if you care to know the deets.
